Shoot for a Cure - how it got started

The founder of Shoot for a Cure, Jayne Coppins wanted to find a way to contribute to the fight against breast cancer. As a breast cancer survivor herself Jayne has experienced firsthand the effects of breast cancer.  Jayne wanted to allow researchers to focus their efforts on finding a cure, rather than worrying about where the next research dollar was coming from.  Then during a professional development course, Jayne discovered the mechanisms to make this a reality.

A keen photographer based in Brisbane, Jayne thought why not combined her love of photography to create a fundraising event, so Shoot for a Cure was created.

Knowing the generosity of the photographic community, the concept is to ask the photographers of Brisbane to donate a framed photo to be exhibited and auctioned at a gala event.

However, Jayne doesn’t want to keep it limited to Brisbane and is hoping to expand and have events in Sydney and Melbourne on an annual basis.

All funds raised will go to Australian Breast Cancer Research, abrc.com.au.
